Job description

1. Quality Control & Compliance:

Monitor and assess the Contractor’s performance in terms of material quality, workmanship, and adherence to specified construction methods.

Administer daily interactions between Consultants and the Contractor, addressing issues related to unspecified work elements.

Maintain material records and progress documentation, providing regular reports to all stakeholders.

2. Site Coordination & Technical Assistance:

Collaborate with the Design Office Team (DOT) to clarify technical details and discrepancies on-site, ensuring smooth project progression.

Manage the “Clarification of Information” log and respond to contractor queries efficiently.

Attend site meetings and supervise subordinate site staff, including other Inspectors of Works.

3. Document Clarification & Discrepancy Resolution:

Resolve conflicts between contract documents such as specifications, drawings, and schedules.

Communicate promptly with DOT to address discrepancies and prevent work delays.

Review and plan the contractor's work schedule, identifying and resolving potential conflicts.

4. Non-Compliance Reporting:

Issue and track Non-Compliance Reports (NCR) for any site work or materials that do not meet specified standards.

5. Progress Reporting & Documentation:

Compile and verify contractor site progress reports, submitting monthly updates to DOT for review.

Sign and endorse Approved As-Built drawings submitted by contractors.

Oversee testing and commissioning of building services, verifying inspection reports, and ensuring any required rectifications are completed.

6. Third-Party Coordination:

Support the contractor in meetings with third parties, such as local authorities, to address technical issues related to building design.

7. Confidentiality:

Maintain strict confidentiality on all matters related to the company, adhering to instructions from the department head.

                    

Requirements

• Malaysian citizens only.
• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably with proven experience as an Inspector of Works, Clerk-of-Works, or similar role in large-scale construction projects.
• Technically competent in electrical and mechanical building services.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and quality control procedures.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills, with the ability to resolve technical issues efficiently.
• Proficiency in reviewing technical drawings and specifications.
• Good understanding of statutory compliance and Health and Safety requirements.
