Job description
1. Supplier Sourcing & Qualification
Identify and develop suppliers for machining parts, raw materials, tooling, jig & fixture, surface treatment, and industrial services.
Conduct supplier capability assessment: capacity, materials, technology, quality system, compliance.
Manage new supplier onboarding, RFQ, cost benchmarking, and quotation evaluation.
2. Technical Procurement
Review drawings, BOM, GD&T, machining process, and consumption rate to ensure technical feasibility before purchase.
Evaluate TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) including machining cost, yield rate, cycle time, tooling life, logistics, MOQ.
Work closely with Engineering, QA, and Production for design review, DFM, and procurement recommendations.
3. Supplier Performance Management
Monitor supplier KPIs: OTD, NCR/PPM, lead time, price stability, service.
Drive supplier corrective actions and continuous improvement.
Manage price review, contract terms, and risk mitigation.
4. Cost & Inventory Optimization
Execute cost reduction programs (localization, VAVE, alternative materials).
Support inventory strategy: safety stock, MOQ, packaging, logistics model.
Collaborate with warehouse & planning to ensure supply continuity.
5. Quality & Compliance
Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 supplier controls and documentation.
Support PPAP, IQC criteria definition, and incoming inspection documentation.
Ensure procurement activities comply with company policy, ethics, and Malaysian regulations.
6. Professional Competencies
Strong understanding of machining fundamentals, materials (stainless steel, aluminum, copper), and surface treatment (anodizing, plating).
Ability to read drawings and interpret GD&T (true position, flatness, runout, tolerances).
Knowledge of quality tools: PPAP, FAI, Control Plan, PFMEA.
Supplier evaluation metrics: price, capability, yield, OTD, PPM, risk.
Ability to perform cost breakdown and process analysis.
Requirements
Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain or related field.
Minimum 3–5 years procurement or supplier development experience in manufacturing (CNC/precision preferred).
Excellent negotiation, analytical and project management skills.
Strong communication skills in English & Mandarin (China supplier interaction).
Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems, procurement database.
Strong integrity, responsibility, and business ethics.
