Job description
Oversee the daily care and feeding of animals across assigned exhibits or sections.
Lead and train a team of junior zookeepers, assigning tasks and monitoring performance.
Observe animal behavior and report signs of illness, injury, or distress to veterinary staff.
Implement enrichment and training plans to promote animal well-being.
Ensure all enclosures are cleaned and maintained according to safety and hygiene standards.
Keep accurate records of feeding, health, behavior, and enrichment activities.
Assist in animal transfers, medical procedures, and routine checks.
Support educational talks, feeding shows, and visitor interactions.
Enforce safety protocols for both animals and staff.
Coordinate with the Managger on inventory needs (e.g., food, bedding, enrichment supplies).
Requirements
Diploma or Degree in Zoology, Animal Science, Veterinary Technology, or related field.
Minimum 3 years of experience in a zookeeper or animal handler role.
Strong knowledge of animal care, behavior, and enrichment techniques.
Supervisory or mentoring experience is an advantage.
Physically fit and willing to work in outdoor environments and handle various species.
Ability to work weekends, public holidays, and flexible hours.
Passion for animal welfare and public education.
