Job description
Design and Planning
- Comprehensive Design Development: Spearhead and work closely with external designing institutes/consultants on the creation of civil engineering project designs and plans. This includes crafting preliminary designs, detailed blueprints, and construction drawings. Your designs should be not only feasible but also cost-effective and easy to implement, taking into account all aspects of the project, from materials to labor.
Schedule and Budget Management
- Precise Planning: Develop detailed construction schedules that account for every phase of the project, from ground-breaking to completion. Simultaneously, create accurate budgets that cover all costs, from raw materials to equipment rentals. Monitor progress closely to ensure that the project stays on track and within budget. Be prepared to adapt the plans in response to unforeseen challenges, such as weather delays or material shortages.
Construction Supervision
- On-Site Oversight: Spend significant time on the construction site, closely monitoring all construction processes. Ensure that the work progresses as planned, that the quality of the work is top-notch, and that all safety regulations are strictly followed. Proactively identify and resolve any potential issues that may arise, from minor construction glitches to major safety hazards.
Quality Control
- High-Standard Assurance: Establish and enforce a rigorous quality inspection system. This involves checking that all construction materials used meet the highest standards and that the workmanship is of the highest quality. Regularly conduct inspections at every stage of the project to ensure that the final product meets or exceeds the design specifications and company requirements.
Safety and Environmental Management
- Safety First: Conduct regular safety inspections of the construction site to ensure compliance with national safety and environmental standards. Develop and implement emergency response plans to prevent accidents and minimize the impact of any unforeseen events. Promote a safety-conscious culture among all construction workers and stakeholders.
Team and Resource Coordination
- Seamless Collaboration: Act as a liaison between government agencies, clients, suppliers, contractors, and internal teams. Coordinate all resources, including labor, materials, and equipment, to ensure that the project progresses smoothly. Keep all parties informed of the project's progress, addressing any concerns or issues promptly and effectively.
Documentation Management
- Orderly Record-Keeping: Organize and archive all project-related documents, including construction drawings, acceptance records, budget adjustments, and contract management files. These records will serve as a valuable resource for future reference, audits, and project evaluations.
Technical Support and Optimization
- Expert Guidance: Provide technical support whenever needed, whether it's answering questions from the construction team or offering solutions to complex engineering problems. Regularly evaluate current construction techniques and propose improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and sustainability. Your insights will drive the continuous development of our company's engineering practices.
Policy Compliance and Ad-Hoc Tasks
- Policy Adherence: Follow all company policies and regulations, ensuring that every aspect of your work meets the company's high standards.
- Task Completion: Efficiently complete any additional tasks assigned by superiors, demonstrating your flexibility and commitment to the success of the project and the company.
Requirements
Educational Background: Hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering or a related field. Your academic foundation will provide the theoretical knowledge necessary to excel in this role.
- Work Experience: Have at least 3 years of experience in civil engineering design and construction, preferably in heavy industrial construction projects. This practical experience will enable you to hit the ground running and handle the challenges of the job with confidence.
- Technical Knowledge: Be familiar with civil engineering design specifications, construction processes, and material requirements. You should also possess strong project management skills, allowing you to effectively plan, execute, and monitor projects.
- Safety and Quality Skills: Have a deep understanding of construction safety management and quality control in civil engineering projects. Your ability to ensure a safe and high-quality work environment is essential.
- Soft Skills: Demonstrate excellent communication and coordination skills, as well as a strong team spirit. You should be able to effectively collaborate with government agencies, clients, teams, and relevant departments to achieve project goals.
