Job description
- Manage and supervise daily activities on the production floor to ensure timely processing, packaging, and shipment of seafood products.
- Maintain and enforce quality control measures throughout all stages of processing to meet company and industry standards.
- Lead, coach, and train production operators, ensuring they understand and follow operating procedures and performance expectations.
- Track key production metrics, including output, yield, efficiency, and downtime, and work to optimize these metrics.
- Ensure all employees adhere to food safety, occupational health, and sanitation protocols. Conduct safety drills and risk assessments as needed.
- Create and manage work schedules, assign tasks, and plan shifts to align with production demands and deadlines.
- Identify areas for process improvement and work with management to implement strategies that enhance productivity, quality, or safety.
- Compile reports on production performance, safety incidents, and any other relevant metrics for senior management.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a production supervisor or a similar leadership role in a food processing environment, with seafood experience preferred.
- Strong ability to lead, motivate, and effectively communicate with a diverse team.
- Demonstrated skills in identifying and resolving production issues quickly.
- Familiarity with seafood industry-specific hygiene standards, food safety regulations, and best practices (e.g., HACCP, GMP).
- Capable of standing for extended periods, performing some lifting, and working in cold or wet environments, as necessary.
