Job description

•	Ensuring vehicles are mechanically sound and legally roadworthy.
•	Performing basic repairs and maintenance in the event of accident or breakdown while in transit.
•	Safely securing heavy loads and large goods for transport.
•	Organising the most efficient route from pickup point to drop off point.
•	Keeping informed of road closures, accidents and traffic diversions.
•	Organising multiple drop-offs and deliveries in each working day.
•	Supervising and assisting with the loading and unloading of deliveries into the lorry.
•	Updating vehicle log books, recording deliveries and tracking mileage.
•	Complying with all MOT and in- house regulations and rules.
                    

Requirements

•	Must be over 18 years of age with the ability to lift 20 kilogrammes.
•	A full driving license, ideally with zero points.
•	Ability to drive long distances in cramped conditions while maintaining concentration.
•	Ability to drive through the night or spend long periods of time away from home.
•	Mechanical skills, such as changing the engine oil.
•	Ability to communicate with both suppliers and customers and provide up-to-date information, such as delivery times.
